The course was great fun and I look forward to future travels to Italia, when I can visit wineries with a new outlook and taste many of those varietals which I had never heard of. Thank you for the cohesive wine education.

Exploring the wines of a country is a wonderful introduction to it's history, culture and people. IWS provides a comprehensive program of study that prepares one to know the range of wines available and the distinctive offerings from each region of Italy. I finish the program with confidence in my wine choices and in my recommendations to others because of the thoroughness of the preparation I received through the IWS.

The style and quality of wine should be understood based on the viticulture and the vinification, which are frequently called six factors. In the IWS program these are described in a clear and appropriately detail manner. In the study I have found and found many pairs of cause and effect.

The overall online program is user-friendly. Both the reading materials and the teaching sessions are clear and not difficult to comprehend. The practice questions, flash cards, and other auxiliary optional information are very helpful.

Italian Wine Scholar was the third of the Wine Scholar Guild’s certifications that I studied, and it was just as enjoyable and comprehensive as the French and Spanish ones. The knowledge and insights acquired have been an inspiration to travel to new (to me) areas of Italy to search out and taste new (to me) wines in their place of origin. For anyone interested in Italian wines, and wanting to learn and understand more about them, this is a great course, and the manual makes a handy reference.

Loved this class. So much information. But I kept reading and studying and reviewing the material and all of a sudden it just all clicked. Thankfully this was the week before the test.
I really enjoyed reading all the history, stories and learning about a country I knew nothing about. Can’t wait to take IWS unit 1 in June. Next year I plan on taking Spanish and French.

The Italian Wine Scholar Unit 2 course is incredibly useful for anyone who wishes to understand the diverse and fascinating wine regions of Central and Southern Italy. With myriad grape varieties and styles this area can be daunting, and IWS makes it easier to learn by consistent and excellent presentation of the detailed material. I feel I have a much stronger knowledge base of Central and Southern Italy, and my wine education has been greatly enriched.

The course provides a comprehensive coverage of the key appellations, their grapes and their wines, supplemented with history, cultural knowledge and stunning maps, ensuring the learning is interesting and fun. This is especially important for Italy, which is complex and seemingly hard to approach. A very well-made course.

Finding a comprehensive Italian wine focused program was very beneficial. In my current role as an Italian wine sales specialist, educating my distributors and consumers about my Italian wine portfolio is foremost. Gaining more knowledge and confidence in my area of expertise is always a worthwhile venture. I highly recommend this program to anyone in the wine trade and to the enthusiast alike!

The best way to study everything you need to know about Italian wines. So perfectly organized that people should take multiple units whether they are master classes or other country classes that you are unfamiliar with.

I was very excited when I found out about the Italian Wine Scholar program, it suited my needs perfectly. I tried both the instructor led for unit one and self study option for unit two. I have a busy life and felt like the minimum time to study and prepare for the exam was 3-4 months each.
My favorite part about the program was the foundation chapter, it really brought the program to life!
Thank you WSG for enhancing my favorite wine region!

The textbook serves as a very good reference for those who want to understand more about the appellations in each wine region, even though some materials are relatively more important for exam purpose. Besides, the online lessons are also very organized and systematically presented, highlighting the key issues that students are expected to know.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book with not only the specific information about all the appellation but found the historical insights extremely fascinating and helpful to understand Italian wine beyond the grapes but more with the cultural side.
Fantastic program that I would suggest to anyone wanted to learn about the wines of Southern Italy in a much deeper way.

The distance learning program was well laid out- through the structured online learning units in conjunction with the IWS manual, I now feel much more confident in my ability to speak about the wines of Italy.

If you sell Italian wines, drink Italian wines and/or love travelling to Italy, I would highly recommend the Italian Wine Scholar course. It covers regional varietals, winemaking and blending practices, climates, soils, history and producers. The online slides are a perfect companion to the text book for self study. My instructor Mark Shipway was a wealth of knowledge and sourced some amazing Italian wines for us to taste that are difficult to find in our market. As the Event Coordinator at Tap Restaurant, I know this course will help me guide my guests to select wines for their events and wine paired menus. I look forward to taking the French Wine Scholar in the near future!

All good. The online flashcards and self evaluation quizzes were particularly helpful.
A section up front covering all of the grapes synonyms and also grape parentage would be helpful.
Reprinting the foundation chapter up front would also be useful in the Unit 2 book.
