WSG Tasting Diploma Code of Conduct
The WSG Tasting Diploma is designed to foster a supportive, rigorous, and inspiring learning environment, both online and in person. By enrolling in the program, including attending the Paris Summit and participating in any assessments, you agree to the following Code of Conduct.
Respectful Behavior
Please treat fellow students, educators, and guest speakers with consideration and respect. Open-mindedness, empathy, and constructive dialogue are essential to the WSG learning community. Any form of harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
Punctuality & Presence
Please arrive on time and be fully present for all structured sessions during the Paris Summit. Educators and guest speakers dedicate valuable time to these sessions, and your timely participation reflects mutual respect.
Participation & Engagement
You are expected to actively engage in all group discussions and activities, both online and in person. Ask relevant questions, contribute thoughtfully, and allow space for others to do the same. Dominating conversation or disregarding group dynamics undermines the learning experience for everyone.
Professionalism at the Paris Summit
All structured events during the Paris Summit are mandatory. While attire is informal, students should maintain a respectful appearance. Refrain from using mobile phones during tastings or sessions unless stepping into the designated area. As this is a tasting-focused program, students are expected to taste, not drink, during exercises. Please avoid wearing perfume, cologne, or strongly scented products that may interfere with aroma perception.
Online Conduct
Our forums and virtual classrooms thrive on respectful, inclusive communication. Use professional language, stay on topic, and approach all interactions with curiosity and kindness. During monthly live sessions, activate your camera when possible, mute your microphone when not speaking, and avoid distractions. Remember if you are unable to attend the live session, these are recorded and uploaded to the Online Classroom.
Academic Integrity
For all assessments and assignments, students are expected to work independently. Cheating, plagiarism, or sharing exam content—especially with students in other time zones—violates the integrity of the program and will result in disciplinary action.
Alcohol Consumption
As a professional tasting program, responsible behavior around alcohol is expected. The focus is on sensory evaluation and communication, not consumption. Arrive each day ready to participate fully.
Health & Accessibility
If you have any health conditions or accessibility needs that may affect your participation in the Paris Summit or in assessments, please notify WSG Customer Care as early as possible so accommodations can be arranged.
Conflicts & Concerns
If you experience any difficulties, issues, or concerns during the program, we encourage you to raise them respectfully and constructively with your Educator or WSG staff.
Representation & Social Media
Students are ambassadors of the WSG community. Please conduct yourself professionally in all public-facing contexts, including social media, when discussing the program or engaging with the broader wine world.
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in a warning. Serious or repeated breaches may result in removal from the program, cancellation of exam results, or ineligibility for future WSG courses. Wine Scholar Guild reserves the right to deny or withdraw enrollment to any individual based on conduct inconsistent with the values of the program.
