I fell in love with French wine while I lived in Toulouse for 6 years. French Wine Scholar program allowed me to do a comprehensive deep dive into the wines of France - including the history and food pairing - which beautifully set the context. It was like going down a memory lane and virtually travelling back to France through the lens of wine. My course provider also chose a wonderful set of wines to taste!

The FWS is a spectacular course for those who love French wines and want to deepen their knowledge. The quality of the content of the manuals and online resources, the possibility to taste a wide range of wines, together with the knowledge and experience of the teachers are the perfect combination for those seeking excellence in wine education.
It is a demanding program, you have to invest many hours of study apart from the classes, not only to pass the exam but to feel that the course is being used to the fullest. Super recommended and an excellent base to continue learning more about French wine with the Master Programs and Study Trips.

This is one of the most complete and in depth courses of France that are available in the market right now... all the materials, either digital or paper are outstanding and make it easy to understand the wide of all the wine regions of France.

I learned so much to make me appreciate all the wines more. I may not drink more wine now but I'll certainly appreciate what I'm buying....even if it cost more.

An excellent course giving cultural, historical, gastronomic insight into Frances key wine regions as well as in depth insight into the climate, environmental factors, terroir and winemaking of these regions.

The FWS is an intense, but incredibly complete and exhaustive study of the wines of France across all its regions and grape varieties and permutations. Even for someone claiming to know France relatively well, this course will certainly go several levels deeper across all French regions, and hopefully help to discover or to appreciate regions you may have been paying less attention to. The FWS is not for beginners, and a certain level of basic understanding of wine growing and wine making is assumed. But it is an excellent add-on to anyone's wine education and journey to wine discovery.
I look forward to the WSG expanding its offering to further countries (a German/Austrian Wine Scholar for example)?

The online resources are extremely well written and help guide you through the programme, even without an instructor. I would highly recommend this programme to anyone wanting to progress their French wine knowledge to a professional level.

The French Wine Scholar program was a challenging yet approachable way for a casual wine enthusiast like myself to make a meaningful investment in their wine education. I enjoyed the program and exploring new and interesting regions. FWS has opened doors to the wine industry for me and helped me get my foot in the door. I'm excited to see what's next!

The French Wine Scholar Guild course greatly broadened my knowledge of the diverse wine scene in France as well as stimulating my interest in wine regions (Chablis, Beaujolais, and the Southewest )that had always held little interest. This is not a wine tasting course per se, though students do taste wine from wine regions across France; the course educates the student about wine production in the fourteen wine regions in the country. The focus in each region is on climate, geology, soil types, grapes planted, and winemaking styles. It really started me thinking about the reasons behind why chardonnay tastes the way it does in Chablis, and how and why we should all be interested in the Beajolais region, realizing that there is much more to the Gamay grape than the production of Nouveau. I finished the course with a clearer understanding of the variety of French wines and the long history behind wine production throughout the country.

This course was offered as part of my company's continued education program. I felt like I had a strong knowledge base in French Wine and this course just took it to the next level. Great details about each area and the remote learning tools were simple to follow. Great job overall. I think the Spanish Course is next for me.

The Wine Scholar Guild has taken the complex topic of French Wine Studies into a thorough classroom environment. Along with the presentation, the wine tastings throughout the course work allow the student to experience a fair amount of French wine styles in a fairly concise timeline.

I found the FWS manual to be very well written and educationally sound. The flow of history, climate and geology (before even getting into grapes and appellations) really made things click for me- I finally understand Bourgogne! Thanks for offering a challenging and well-rounded program.

Great course! Would recommend for anyone interested in a substantial course on French wine. An especially excellent option for distance learning as it doesn't have a tasting component.

I am really happy with the program provided by the WSG for the FWS course.
But I am just a bit disapointed with the lack of questions about the important/historical people in the history of French wine in the exam it self.
Thank you :)
