French Wine Scholar Online - Independent Study Format

The study materials, both printed manuals and online, are excellent resources for learning and studying the complexity of French wine appellations, and serve as valuable reference material on this topic.

One can think that following a distance learning course on wine would be a big challenge! I don't think so, at least for this particular case - the French Wine Scholar certification course. And I took the Independent Study Format, that in fact wasn't that independent because the online resources are so amazing that I felt throughout the course as if I were closely accompanied by the people from the Wine Scholar Guild whenever I was logged. And I'm sure I was! Needed I anything, they were there to help. Studying on the book was also quite pleasurable and informative thanks to the layout, beautiful pictures and the content itself. All that I needed to delve deeply into the French Wine Industry.

Good program, wish I had more time to devote to learning about wine.

The French Wine Scholar program is an incredibly in-depth, comprehensive course! For anyone who is interested in developing their knowledge of French wine, this course is a must!

I found a great program very complete, exam was hard but in overall i had an amazing learning experience, will definitely do the SWS and IWS.

programme was well conducted with easy to understand lectures and textbook. On-line slides and lectures/webinars were very interesting to peruse. France is such an exciting wine region, against a fascinating backdrop of history and geography. Excellent course.

France is inevitable. The materials, stories and anecdotes given are invaluable for anyone who wants to be cultured on wine wherever they're from.

The program is very terroir focused which interested me greatly and the level of detail gives a very in depth appreciation of each French region. The online resources and study aids contributed significantly to me achieving a pass. I was sceptical about the exam format being multiple choice but actually found that because of this I was forced to learn in a very detailed and accurate manner which I think will help me retain the knowledge gained into the future.

I came away from the FWS with a much deeper understanding of the soil types and regional grapes of France than I ever have from any previous certification.

Really helped me to appreciate wine regions in an indepth way, with week-by-week focus on some of France's most important wines and terroirs.

For me this has been a fascinating course. It truly allowed my to expand my understanding of all the major regions of France in a way I enjoy learning: the online teaching modules with interactive quiz-questions, together with an engaging, well put together course book, made it well-worth the money. I will certainly be taking more courses with the Wine Scholar Guild.

I now have a great understanding of French AOCs. It has shown me new and interesting wines to try. Working in a liquor store as a buyer this has helped me give my customers education and encouraged them to buy wines outside of their comfort zone. Overall I throughly enjoyed the program!

The independent study format is really well-conceived for someone like me who enjoys working in depth and at their own pace. The program itself is comprehensive, intuitive and very interesting.

This was really stellar as far as self-study programs go. The online courses and self-evaluations helped me to measure my progress and prepare for the test, while the manual is a great resource in itself.

The French Wine Scholar program is an incredibly enjoyable scholastic venture for those interested in engaging more with the intricacies of the French wine world. Within each chapter lies a wealth of fascinating historical material to compliment the concise details on the highlighted AOCs.

The French Wine Scholar program widened my learning of all French wine regions, and built on already broadly-acquired knowledge from completing the Diploma in Wines and Spirits. With the Italian Wine Scholar course also completed, I am looking very much forward to the Spanish Wine Scholar!

I learned a lot and it absolutely did its job in helping me learn more about French Wines. I don't know if I passed or not, but I'm already drinking great wines at low prices because I know what to look for!

The French Wine Scholars program was the most prepared, informative and resourceful wine course I have ever taken. It was not easy but it was fair challenge!

This is a very good programme for serious wine enthusiasts looking to further their wine education beyond WSET Level 3 but who can't commit to the full Diploma programme. Highly recommended.

The French Wine Scholar program was a joyful learning experience. We explored deeply each and every region of France, and we tasted wines from all the regions, including wines from lesser-known regions such as Savoie, Jura and Corsica. Overall, it was much more challenging than I had anticipated and anyone who passes this exam should be proud of their accomplishment. The FWS postscript is meaningful!

The FWS program has been a great way for me to revisit the classic regions, and to further explore the heritage and value offered by lesser known areas. It has added depth and breadth of knowledge of industry trends and changes in French wine law. It certainly will be beneficial to my ongoing WSET Diploma studies.

Great course. Helped me learn about France,its regional viticulture and a very good overview of all the French wines in 8 weeks time. It really got me interested in France as a country and its culture and the depth of variety that exists in terms of wine. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is interested in gaining a head start in wines.

A comprehensive course on French wines with an excellent online base, along with a well composed text book. Materials were all well written in a manner that was interesting and easy to understand. This coupled with great wines to taste made this course one of the most interesting and enjoyable wine courses I have attended.

Thoroughly enjoyed it from the first page to the last! Studying the FWS Scholar programme made me thirsty for more!
