Congratulations to Nobuko Kimura, FWS, for achieving highest honors in the French Wine Scholar exam with Academie du Vin, Tokyo.
I’m working for a food and beverage importing company based in Japan, and my responsibility is searching and introducing new wines to the Japanese market. Currently, we are importing wines from France, Italy, Spain, Chile, USA, etc. Experiences as buyer & merchandiser of kitchenware and of living in Spain brought me to the wine industry. This year I’m trying to expand our portfolio.
I have achieved the following certifications: Sherry Ambassador, Sherry Committee Certified, Wine Educator, Wines of Greece certified, and Sommelier J.S.A. certified.
I had the opportunity to learn regional historical background and character of soils through FWS program, which gave me more profound understanding of the relationships between the taste of wine and grapes. Also, I could find a lot of useful information for product PR & promotion.
I’m going to study SWS this year. Hope I'll be able to enrich my knowledge of Spanish wine and that will be helpful to my business field. I’m looking forward to starting the course very soon.
I believe that the knowledge through the program must help me especially in the communication with our business partners from wineries. Besides, information about food culture gave me plenty of ideas which helps me in occasions of wine recommendation or introduction for clients/consumers, although that section wasn’t covered by the exam, but still very useful, both for work and for life!
