Come Inside Bordeaux

Visit behind the scenes of this iconic region by exploring lesser-known villages, vineyards and estates, as well as famous châteaux. You’ll end the tour as a Bordeaux expert.

Exclusive Châteaux Hospitality

Savor private and delicious meals at prestigious châteaux, hosted by the winemakers and owners themselves. Accompanied by exceptional wines, of course.

Meet the Visionaries Shaping Bordeaux’s Future

Your chance to speak with the inspiring vignerons who are redefining Bordeaux through their commitment to craft and sustainability. You’ll also meet the women who are shaking up the old guard.

Why Bordeaux?

Bordeaux has been the most renowned fine wine region in France for centuries, whose wines are the international reference for quality.

Yet while there are wines of startling originality and craft found across the region, Bordeaux remains best known for its Cru Classés, representing just 5% of production — and many of which are shareholder-owned. This narrow view excludes the 56% of Bordeaux properties that are family or individually owned, many of which produce terroir-driven wines made with passion and integrity.

On this Backroads tour, we’ll take you to the most outstanding of these vignerons. You’ll go inside the real Bordeaux, to meet the men and women making wine with every bit the same dedication, craftsmanship and passion as the famous châteaux, but whose wines offer exceptional individuality and value.

No trip to Bordeaux would be complete without a visit to some of the famous properties, but these will be chosen with an eye to the craft and sustainable practices they bring to bear on winemaking.

By the end of this trip, you will understand Bordeaux’s diverse wines, from its organic whites to its opulent dessert wines to rosé and sparkling wines. And the red wines, of course! This is a trip that will reveal why Bordeaux has been so significant for so long, while revealing its hidden treasures.
