Visiting Spain's wine country and learning about Spanish wine culture is a challenge to explore on your own. The entire country is covered with significant vineyards, varietals, and wine history. This course puts it all together nicely and in a very comprehensive format. I highly recommend this course for those who have the desire to improve their knowledge about all things Spanish wine.

The Spanish Wine Scholar Program. was amazing. The wine regions of Spain are so vastly diverse it can overwhelming to dive in. This immersive exploration of the history and terroir of each of them really expanded my knowledge. I recommend this program to anyone looking to expand their knowledge of this country and its amazing wines.

The Spanish Wine Scholar course has fired up my enthusiasm for Spanish wine (and food!). With a deep-dive into each region, it delivers an excellent overview, combining science, history and key information about the wine types. There is an enough detail to make the course a little challenging (in a good way) but not too much for it to be overwhelming. Because of that, I felt a real sense of achievement when I finished it.

The WS programs provided by WSG are at the top of the class in the industry. The study manuals are well-written and informative, and backed up by excellent online presentations and study tools. Highly recommended for people wanted to gain a deeper insight into particular regions.

First course with WSG and was waiting for Spain. Delighted with learning experience, especially outstanding course tutor, Jimmy at West London Wine school. Inspired to do France and Italy in 2020 and 2021. I think you should offer a 10% discount for returning students?

I absolutely loved the class. I learned so much. Now I will nit pick. I do feel the test had some unfair questions: For instance there was a question which region has the most Vino de Pagos. There were only 2 Vino de Pagos that were 'need to know' and I didn't see any reference in the manual that specifically stated a region with the most Vino de Pagos. A better question would have been specifically about VP Deminio de Valdepusa for instance where there was none. Another question was which Rioja zone was the coolest. The manual really doesn't make a great distinction betwen Rioja Alta and Alavesa. The chart has average temperatures 1 degree Celsius difference between the two. The manual states both are cooler than Oriental not that one is the coolest.
I also felt the test could have been more in depth. There were virtually no questions on sub-regions, and very little about specific aging requirements. One question was to order the aging requirements of Rioja from Generico to Gran Reserva. Honestly, this is too simple of a question in my opinion for a Spanish wine scholar exam.

I definitely recommend this class to anyone who wants to understand and explain Spanish wines. I've been to many of the locations in the book, but the material put into perspective for me.
I could have enjoyed a longer class, one or two more sessions. I felt the first part moved well and the second part a little rushed.
Monica is terrific and communicates well.

This course is absolutely fantastic! I learned so much from both the manual and the on line modules. The 2-day classroom instruction was a perfect end to the independent study covering all sections accompanied by EXCELLENT tastings of wine from each region! Overall excellent experience with so much knowledge gained. Can't wait for the next course at Napa Wine Academy!!

Im a huge spanish wine fan. I started drinking with in Rioja, my favorite wine style is Jerez and some of my favorite places in the world for travaing are in the Balearic Islands. When WSG launched the SWS program was a real present for me. I really enjoyed the ride!!!

The new Spanish Wine Scholar course has been well researched and is a very comprehensive look at both the wine history of Spain and the current wine styles being made. You will learn about history, politics and key figures in the industry as well as the climate, soil types, topography, grape varieties of all of the wine regions in Spain today. The study book is laid out well and the online resources include webinars, strong visuals, online quizzes and flashcards. By the end of the course when you are ready to sit the exam you really do feel that you could answer any question anyone throws at you about Spanish wine. Thoroughly recommended. A comprehensive and fascinating course on Spanish wines, covering so much more than the well-known wines of Rioja, cava and sherry. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about each of the regions, their wines and the historical and geographical factors that shaped them. I feel so much more confident and adventurous when faced with an array of Spanish wines in a restaurant or wine store.
