Alexandre Chaillon

In 2017, Alexandre returned to Aÿ to work his mother’s family vineyards (the Vollereaux family), spread across the south-facing slopes of Épernay—Brugny, Pierry, and Vaudancourt. The soils form a patchwork of limestone, marl and clay.
He began converting his parcels to organic farming in 2020. The vineyard is planted to 59% Chardonnay, 23% Pinot Noir, and 18% Pinot Meunier. In the cellar, vinification, fermentation and aging take place in 228- and 300-liter barrels and sandstone eggs. His Champagnes show great finesse and a seamless balance between élevage and terroir. One of the most talented growers of his generation.
