Domaine de la Tournelle

Evelyn Clairet has managed this 9ha-Arbois domaine since her husband Pascal's sudden death in 2021, and she hopes to be joined soon by her children. The couple, both trained oenologists, were known as natural winemaking pioneers, working with no or very low sulfite additions for many years. In order to continue this, Evelyne places great emphasis on vineyard work to try to deal with climate change, and on hygiene in the winery in St-Cyr-Montmalin and in the historic Arbois aging cellars. A range of classic Jura varietal wines is made, along with a Syrah from a very warm site in Mesnay. Some wines are held back for later release, denoted with an 'R' on the label. In summer the wines can be tried alongside the Cuisance River in Arbois at their delightful Bistrot.
