Château de Montfaucon

One of leading estates on the west bank of the Rhône, Château de Montfaucon doesn’t make a bad wine, whether it be Lirac, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Tavel, Côtes du Rhône – or anything else. Owner Rodolphe de Pins is a mine of information and talented winemaker, not afraid to push the envelope and experiment in the search for excellence. His old-vine Liracs, the red Vin de Monsieur le Baron and white Vin de Madame le Comtesse, are particularly worth tracking down. They are expensive compared to other Liracs, but don’t be put off – in a global context they are underpriced considering the quality and ageability they offer.
