The Scala family has cultivated vines and olives since the 1600s. In 1960, Federico Scala—grandson of Falcone Lucifero, Minister of the Royal House—established the winery as a separate entity, naming it Santa Venere after the stream that crosses the estate.
Since 1949, the family has passed the business down through generations. Today, Francesco Scala oversees commercial operations, distributing six labels and about 100,000 bottles annually from 18 hectares of vineyards.
