Founded in the 1960s in Marzi (Cosenza) by physician Vittorio Colacino, the winery began with his love for Britto, a native grape known for its spicy black cherry aromas—once praised by Mario Soldati in Vino al Vino (1975). Today, his children Mauro and Maria Teresa manage the business, merging their father’s passion with modern production methods. By carefully selecting grapes during ripening and maintaining low yields, they produce Savuto DOP wines from native varieties grown on terraced vineyards 500 meters above sea level.
