Benvenuto Vini Calabria IGP

Giovanni Benvenuto is a young winemaker born and raised in the mountains of Marsica, Abruzzo. Despite his origins, he always felt a strong bond with Calabria. At 18, he moved to the province of Vibo Valentia, driven by his family roots and a passion to revive the area's ancient winemaking traditions. One of his most ambitious projects was the restoration of Zibibbo Calabrese, a historic grape variety with largely untapped potential.
After more than a decade of dedication, Giovanni succeeded in getting Zibibbo recognized as a Calabrian PGI (Protected Geographical Indication)—a milestone that earned him international recognition. A staunch advocate for organic farming and sustainability, he practices environmentally respectful viticulture that protects biodiversity and ensures product quality. In 2020, The New York Times named his Zibibbo one of the best white wines in Italy, encouraging him to push further. He is now working toward gaining DOC status for Zibibbo in the region.
